General Assignment Information
The first class assignment is posted on the course TWEN page. The syllabus will be distributed and discussed on the first day of class.
During the first half of the semester, we will learn about the structure and operation of the international and regional human rights systems, think about what the systems are intended to achieve and what they do achieve, and ask critical questions of the systems in light of current legal and political contexts.
During the second half of the semester, students will engage in deeper legal and analysis relating to current human rights issues, including threats to and violations of the rights of the LGBTQ+ population, immigrants, and people who are incarcerated. This half of the semester will largely focus on the United States.
